A few days ago, someone pointed out to me how ironic it was that Malcom McLaren, manager of The Sex Pistols who sang "God save the Queen", died recently. The Queen is still alive, he is not. Ok, that might be ironic, but I have a better one:
Lon Chaney (1883 – 1930) was a horror actor of the silent era that portrayed among other things The Phantom of The Opera. He was a very skilled actor and even had the voice to back it up (unlike many other actors of his kind). When he got offered the role of Dracula he refused and waited patiently for the upcoming introduction of the talking cinema. After starring in a successful talking movie it was time to play his much anticipated role. That, of course, never happened. He got sick with an aggressive lung cancer and died of throat hemorrhage soon afterwards. What we learn from this story is:
1) Never leave for tomorrow something that you can do today
2) Life can be such a bitch!
