A serious post about "a serious man"

When I first created this blog I had only one purpose in mind: To increase the number of search results that produce corners of admiration for those under-rated or less popular films that I believe deserve to be praised. Gradually, random postings on less exceptional films began to arise. This, however, is not one of them.

What I experienced with "A serious man" (2009) was unprecedented. The opening scene had me hooked more than Schwarzenegger was watching himself at the "End of Days". This would be no surprise to Coen fans, though, as their mastery is very well known.

I could now delve into analysing the film, but I simply won't, mainly for two reasons:
1. Plot analysis was never a primary concern to me
2. There are others that have done it much better than me

Having said that, I'd hate to be mistaken for those people that focus on imagery and don't understand a thing about the buried thoughts and messages of the creators. It is true, however, that in this film the former is as alluring as the latter and that I'd watch it again if I'd happen to get into a situation where I'd have that option.
